Effective July 1, Patrick Bourke has been appointed as country manager for the MG brand in New Zealand fulfilling a role which has been vacant since the previous incumbent’s departure.

Bourke has been part of the MG team in Australia for more three years and, in his time as sales general manager, market share for the brand in Australia has grown from 0.9% in 2019 to 4.6% end of May year-to-date.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to lead the MG business in New Zealand into what promises to be an exhilarating period of significant growth,” Bourke says.

“I know New Zealand is comparatively well advanced in terms of acceptance of plug-in motoring and MG is in a great position to offer a variety of mobility solutions in this space, we also have a wide range of attractive and affordable non-electric models.

“I have great aspirations for MG and can’t wait to see more Kiwis driving our product.”

MG Motor Australia and New Zealand chief executive Peter Ciao says Bourke will oversee the future aspirations of the marque here.

“Patrick has more than 30 years global experience, having led teams at a number of large automotive companies in the UK, Belgium and Australia, from where he joins us and has played a key part in the brand’s sales strategies,” Ciao says.

“Patrick brings hands-on and in-depth technical experience within the automotive sector, and I have every confidence he will continue to focus on our customers and help maximise future opportunities and growth aspirations, especially as we move into an exciting phase of electrification including the upcoming launch of the all-new MG ZS EV.”
