Moana Pasifika is the first Super Rugby Pacific franchise to switch to fully electric vehicles, announcing a partnership with Opel to drive the Opel Mokka Electric SUV.

“This ensures that our team is taken care of and doing their part to better our community on and off the field,” says Moana Pasifika chief executive Pelenato Sakalia.

“We hope the rest of Aotearoa can get on board with us.”

Opel commercial manager Noah Robertson says that as the official vehicle provider for the team the partnership shows Moana Pasifika which champions Pacific people is considering climate change – an issue for Pacific Island nations.

The new EV incorporates Pacific Island patterns, has no air or noise pollution, zero petrol costs and lower EV running costs.
