Bearing the brands new coat of arms on its front grille, the new range of Peugeot 308 hatchbacks which includes a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant has become available for test drive in New Zealand dealerships.

Crowned as the 2022 Women’s World Car of the Year, Peugeot says the latest iteration of the 308 hatchback sets the tone for its future models – with the brand evolving to offer a more premium ownership experience.

Peugeot says although this third iteration of the 308 has a more powerful road-stance than its predecessors, it boasts a sleeker silhouette courtesy of aerodynamic bodywork affording a more distinctive and dynamic look.

Built on Peugeot’s Efficient Modular Platform structure (EMP2 V3), the manufacturer says the new 308 is also stronger, safer and quieter than ever.

“The new 308 represents a premium evolution of the Peugeot brand, so customers wanting a stylish yet affordable contemporary European hatchback which stands out from the crowd, need look no further,” Peugeot New Zealand commercial manager Arek Zywot says.

“The addition of the 308 PHEV is another significant step in our commitment to have an electrified variant of every new Peugeot model before 2025.”

New, adaptive full LED Matrix headlights which provide a distinctive light signature that makes the 308 instantly recognisable – day and night – are among many features introduced for the first time to a Peugeot model.

The latest-generation digital interfaces and connected infotainment system with 10” central touchscreen make it resolutely modern, complemented by the Peugeot i-Toggles, fully digital and configurable shortcuts. The next-gen driving aids represent the highest level of Peugeot know-how, including a long-range blind spot monitoring system.

A key element of the brand’s design DNA is the Peugeot’s distinctive i-Cockpit® interior, with the compact steering wheel, the high-end Alcantara and Nappa leather finish blending with intuitive technology for a premium driving experience. Even the design space for the passengers has been optimised to ensure they don’t feel left out of the Peugeot experience.
