Mercedes-Benz Vans New Zealand has opened order books for the eVito Panel Van, eVito Tourer, eSprinter and EQV seven-seater.

They are priced from $101,487, $127,030, $130,900 and $166,350 respectively (Manufacturer’s Recommended List Price including GST, excluding on road costs), with all four models available in limited quantities.

NZ Post trialled some of the e-vans, including the eVito panel van which provides up to 6.0m3 cargo load volume, 882kg payload and 3200kg GVM and the eSprinter with up to 11.0m3 cargo load volume, a 793kg payload and 3500kg GVM.

The eight-seat eVito Tourer people mover is designed to lower running costs for a variety of commercial users, including tourism and government fleet operators.

A second all-electric people mover is a seven-seater, the passenger market-focused EQV from Mercedes-EQ.

All four vehicles are available to order now via Mercedes-Benz eVan and EQ retailers.

The four new models mark the first time that Mercedes-Benz Vans has offered its New Zealand customers EV alternatives.

The eVito Panel Van, eVito Tourer and eSprinter only require servicing every year or 40,000km (whichever comes first), and are covered by 24-hour roadside assistance. The standard warranty covers each vehicle for five years or 250,000km, and the battery for eight years or 160,000km.

The EQV vehicle is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, and eight years or 160,000km for the battery pack. Servicing is recommended once a year or every 40,000km.

The eVito Panel Van provides 85kW of power and 360Nm torque from the 60kW/h battery pack to the front wheels via a single-speed transmission. Energy consumption is estimated at 25.67kW/h per 100km, equating to an estimated driving range of up to 259km (WLTP).

Charging time from zero to 100% using AC (11kW) is estimated at 6.5 hours, while DC fast charging (80kW) can get from 10% to 80% in 35 minutes, both using the inbuilt Type 2 (CCS) charging system.

Five recuperation modes recover energy during deceleration. In the most active mode, D-, deceleration and recuperation are strongest, requiring less manual braking and maximising driving range. The D, D+ and D++ modes progressively reduce active deceleration, while DAuto mode uses a radar sensor to automatically adjust the recuperation level to the traffic situation.

The eVito Panel Van can carry a variety of cargo types with a 2398mm long, 1709mm wide (excluding wheel arches) and 139 mm high loading space and dual rear sliding doors.

The two-seater has standard safety features while other important driving aids include rollover mitigation, load adaptive control, enhanced understeer control and acceleration skid control.

Standard equipment highlights include Distronic Active Distance Assist cruise control; a reversing camera with dynamic steering lines and three rear-view modes; a seven-inch touchscreen with voice control capability, Bluetooth audio streaming and Smartphone integration (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay).

Heated seats have lumbar support and cushion length adjustment.

The Mercedes-Benz eVito Tourer seats up to eight people, including the driver and is expected to be highly sought-after as the first all-electric people mover to be offered to the New Zealand commercial market, especially among tourism companies and government fleet operators.

Sharing the same underpinnings and basic architecture as the eVito Panel Van but including large side windows and 17-inch alloy wheels, the eVito Tourer has a 2:3:3 seating configuration with the seats able to be individually folded down to increase cargo space.

It has a more powerful electric motor sending 150kW and 365Nm to the front wheels, a usable battery capacity of 90kW/h and power consumption of 28.43kW/h per 100km, providing an expected 351km range (WLTP).

Charging from zero to 100% using AC (11kW) takes about 10 hours, while DC fast charging (110kW) gets from 10% to 80% in about 45 minutes.

The eVito Tourer has the same comprehensive safety package as the eVito Panel Van, and a similar standard specification list. Its second and third row seats include a folding outer rear seat that helps with accessibility from the side-access doors, while the seat rail has a quick locking system for fast adjustments and include ISOFIX and tethering points.

The Mercedes-Benz eSprinter has a tall and deep loading space. A cargo load volume of up to 11.0m encompasses a space that is 3272mm long, 1787mm wide and 2079mm high, including a fully flat floor unimpeded by the electric drive system and lithium-ion battery pack.

It has a payload of up to 793kg and 3500kg GVM, about 132km range (WLTP), 85kW power and 295Nm torque to the front wheels, a 47kW/h battery capacity and uses about 41.3kW/h per 100km.

Charging via AC (7.4kW) is about eight hours, while a DC (80kW) top up from 10 to 80% takes about 30 minutes.

The eSprinter includes a suite of advanced safety features, comfort and convenience equipment, a large sliding door on the left-hand side, rear hinged doors with windows, and a rear doorstep.

The Mercedes-Benz EQV people mover’s electric motor sends 150kW power and 365Nm torque to the front wheels. Its 90kW/h battery provides an estimated 343km range (WLTP) and uses 29.06kW/h per 100km. DC charging (110kW) tops-up from 10 to 80% in about 45 minutes while using 11kW AC can charge from zero to 100% in about 10 hours.

The EQV can be optionally specified with four individual armchairs in the rear compartment – ideal for airport transfers, as an executive shuttle or as a family vehicle.

The standard configuration seats seven with armchairs in the second row and a bench seat in the third row, the EQV including a high roofline and dual electric sliding doors.

It has the MBUX infotainment system, voice commands, a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, and much more.

The EQV can take up to 1030 litres of cargo, and has a lift-style Easy Pack Tailgate.

Four driving programs are offered along with five levels of energy recuperation, while a comprehensive suite of safety features is included.
