The Motor Industry Association says that commercial vehicle sales surged in May 2023, and registrations of 3788 units were up 37.1% (1,026 units) on May 2022.

Unsurprisingly the Ford Ranger led the market with 983 units registered, and the Toyota Hilux took third place overall with 746 units.

MIA chief executive Aimee Wiley says this result will likely be repeated in June on the back of further increases to Clean Car fees from July 1, but says on a year-to-date basis, commercial vehicles remain down 23.5% (5449 units) due the impact of the fees on the market.
